WHO visit with Mrs Yushchenko

16 March 2007

Pregnant crown princess Mary accompanied Ukranian first lady Kateryna Yushchenko for a visit at the WHO regional offices for Europe, which are located in Copenhagen.

The Ukranian presidential couple was in Denmark on a business mission.



Mary wore a new blouse by Chloé.



Lady-in-waiting Caroline Heering was also present.

A trip to the zoo

Crown princess Mary & her son, prince Christian were spotted at the zoo in Copenhagen. The were accompanied by Mary's friend Birgitte Handwerk.


Kidney Research Awards

At 6 weeks from the birth of her second child, crown princess Mary handed out the Kidney Research Awards at Hotel Josty in Frederiksberg.



She was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, Caroline Heering.

At 6 weeks from giving birth to her second child, crown princess Mary opened the expo "Jewellery Box" at the Danish Museum for Art & Design in Copenhagen. Mary's the patron of the Danish Arts and Crafts Association.




She was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, Caroline Heering.



Mary wore a new Prada coat. This was the only time she was seen wearing it (in public). The coat was sold at Haberdash in November 2014.

Visit to Gellerup

6 March 2007

At 7,5 months into her second pregnancy, crown princess Mary made a visit to Gellerup, a disadvantaged part of Aarhus with a predominant immigrant population.


She was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, Caroline Heering.



Mary was shown various community projects around Gellerup.




The visit lasted from 11:00 untill 15:00 o'clock and included a lunch with guests.

Nanny #3: Ann Alicia Thunbo

In February 2007, crown prince Frederik and crown princess Mary employed nanny Ann Alicia Thunbo. Alicia had worked for Joachim & Alexandra since 2002, caring primarily for Felix.


A flexible arrangement about Alicia's services existed between Joachim & Frederik's families untill Isabella was born.

Early 2008 Mrs Thunbo stopped working as a nanny for Mary, when she was expecting her own baby.

At 7 months well into her pregnancy, crown princess Mary kept a busy schedule. Just like her first pregnancy - barely 16 months earlier - she had the fortune of being in excellent condition.


First Mary & Frederik received a financial donation from Flemming Borreskov, the CEO of Realdania for the of their new redsidence, Frederik VIII's palace in the center of Copenhagen. Realdania is a private real estate organisation that supports philantrophic architectural projects.


The former official residence of queen Ingrid was being stripped and modernized completely. For the new refurbishment 8 contemporary artists had been chosen to make a contribution: Olafur Eliasson, Jeppe Hein, Kasper Bonnén, Jesper Christiansen, Erik A Frandsen, John Kørner, Tal R, Morten Schelde and Kathrine Ærtebjerg.

The crown princely couple posed with the artists.


In 2011 the works would be finished and the family moved into the "new" palace.

Crown princess Mary was accompanied by lady-in-waiting Caroline Heering for the next activity: a visit to Mary's patronage "Brain Injury Association".




Mary was invited to celebrate the Association's 1st year of activities in it's "Hovedhuset" in Frederiksberg.

King Harald's 70th birthday

Crown prince Frederik & 7 months pregnant crown princess Mary were part of a big royal gathering in Oslo, Norway for the 70th birthday of king Harald of Norway. They stayed at Haakon & Mette Marit's place for the duration of the weekend.

In the afternoon the royal guests arrived in Oslo.





Together with other young royals, Mary & Frederik had a private dinner with crown prince Haakon & crown princess Mette Marit at their Skaugum estate.

Later that night there was a variety show at Oslo City Hall for which the guests dressed in gala.
















24 February 2007

A visit to the Bygdøy Museum of Norwegian Cultural History in Oslo.














Official pictures were made at the royal palace.



After the gala dinner fireworks were lit. The royals watched them from the balcony of the royal palace.





The evening concluded with a ball.

A sleighride was offered to the royal guests who were still in Oslo. Frederik & Mary weren't among them.
